Stone veneer is typically attached to a wall using a layer of mortar or a special adhesive. The surface is first prepared with a moisture barrier and metal lath, then the mortar is applied, and the stone pieces are pressed into place. For some manufactured stone veneers, mechanical fasteners or panel systems may also be used.
